I still disagree on every front. the hypocrisy to compare it against GT-R's and Turbo S to then turn around and say it isn't sporty because it's not on its own chassis is wild. beautiful car, low, fast, precise coupe, if that's not enough for you, then this car was not made for you. To me this is one of my all time favorite vehicles.

wow wasnt expecting that i have a mk1 tt 225 stage 1 with more power then this qs i know its fast but i thought the type r from 315hp rated power should have kept up or been faster.

The 991.2 vs 992 GT3 performance isn't "nearly identical performance", at least per Ring times. 992 is 12 seconds faster than 991.2. I've had both 991.2 and 992 and aside from the engine, the feel is totally different when pushed. I didn't think 991.2 GT3 could be improved anymore, but 992 GT3 is a HUGE improvement, I don't miss the 991.2 in slightest. I'm absolutely smitten with the 992 GT3.

Just seen a couple of reviews of these cars and what strikes me is how the testers overlook so many obvious issues. Maybe the sound of a raucous V8 and nice finish makes them forget to ask questions. It seems to me an opportunity lost by the manufacturers. Firstly these are newly constructed vehicles not restomods of a classic vehicle so there are going to be issues in regard to registration in many countries. Next is the choice of engine with a design that goes back to Buick and Oldsmobile circa 1962. The only plus is it is light weight. If you want to know the cons find Smokey Yunicks discussion on these engines. It’s great they replaced the leaf springs with a 5 link and coil overs. However, the smoke and mirrors are obvious when it comes to the front suspension. Yep it appears that a £230k “restomod” still has kingpins dating back to its 1950s design. So they like to discuss V8s, leather, strangely restyled front and rear body treatments that don’t really blend with the original style. I would like to know about front and rear suspension, torsional rigidity and the addition of all that weight. Maybe they could have used some of money used on the engine to deal with these issues. If you want a fast well developed MBG there are many ways to do this at half the price.

Thank you ! Great test. Unfortunately both cars are costing here ( Turkey ) around 100k ( really) Pounds because of special luxury taxes. So its nice to watch. If here the Type R would cost 50k pounds you could sell a lot of them.

I’ve driven one of these. My mate had one. Such a great car to drive.

Start with the Pirelli edition GTI, and with a well-set-up LSD, Bilstein coil-overs which have been properly set up for the car and course, the appropriate bracing good well-set-up bushings and a proper wheel alignment / set up along with the obvious well-tuned stage 2+ kit with a set of larger rotors with a set of the appropriate Pagid brake pads and fluid I'll put my money on a stock Golf 8 being left in the GTI,s dust. The GTI doesn't have the same mechanical grip out of slow corners as the R but it's considerably lighter.

This is by far the best looking version of the Golf platform.

I have a golf mk5 gti and it feels a bit slow when doing 0-60 it doesn't have any wheelsspin at all. I do have a fault code that is p0238. What can the problem be?
